Welcome to the Rehabilitation Technologies Implementation Model (the RiTE model)

The RiTE model is a digital health implementation framework designed to support the adoption of digital rehabilitation technologies into clinical practice. The model guides healthcare organisations, clinicians and service users through the stages of designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating digital rehabilitation technologies to support successful adoption and sustainable clinical use.

What is the RiTe model?

The RiTe model helps you explore the key factors that influence the implementation of rehabilitation technologies. It aims to help users think about the influences that will make adopting a technology into practice easier or more difficult, so you can plan adoption more effectively. It also aims to streamline the implementation process itself by highlighting what really matters when selecting and adopting a technology in clinical practice. The RiTe model also enables evaluation of the implementation process, identifying what parts of the implementation process went well and what didn’t, promoting learning.

We recommend that all the five domains of the RiTe model are used together to enable comprehensive planning and evaluation of rehabilitation technology implementation – if a domain is omitted, it is likely to cause challenges sooner or later!
But you can use single domains if you may want to focus in on one domain at a time, for instance if you are thinking about how to choose a technology, if you are looking at the specific needs of users, or if you are using the RiTe model to evaluate a single aspect of implementation.
